Welcome to 2025! This year is full of opportunities, and at NZ Property Invest we see it as the perfect time for ambitious investors to take action and build wealth through New Zealand Real Estate.
Prices for property have decreased substantially from the dizzy heights of the boom in 2020 – 2022 and have now looked to stabilize at an affordable level and with interest rates trending down we have found the investing environment has turned in our favour where we can again find the perfect environment for property investing in New Zealand.

New Zealand real estate has proven to be the most lucrative wealth creation vehicle for the majority of New Zealanders, head and shoulders above any other form of investment leaving the share market & business sector for dead. How many people do you know that have done exceedingly well in life that own lots of investment property and compare that to people who have become millionaires through the share market or a business. With the latter I know next to none, but I do know a lot of people who have created a comfortable life by investing in property with the freedom to be able to do what you want without having to worry about money or the pressure and stress of holding a day job.

New Zealand is a property investor’s paradise. With no capital gains tax and the return of interest deductibility, the government is effectively supporting investment in real estate. Combined with housing prices that are cost-effective compared to many other countries, New Zealand real estate remains one of the most attractive and affordable markets in the world.
If that is not enough to get you excited, consider this: what other type of investment can be completely hands-off, managed by someone else, pay you weekly, and also appreciate in value over time? It is a no-brainer.
When we purchase an investment property, we always look for specific criteria that make the deal stand out from the rest. These are often small details that many people overlook, but they can add up to significant profits.

- Positive Cashflow: First and foremost, the MOST important criterion for any deal is to be Positive cashflow. If the figures don’t stack up- no matter how lovely the property looks, we walk away.

- Buying under market value: You make a lot of your profit with the buying. We always negotiate hard to purchase below the market value, and straight away you will have made net profit.

Avoid Lemons: How do we know a lemon when we see one? This list is long but here are a few, – avoid old houses that require a huge amount of renovation, property next to railway lines or high voltage power lines, property in one horse towns with only one industry, and the list goes on…

Investment Upside: This can come in many forms, and it doesn’t take us long to spot it when we look at a property. Upside is something you can do to a property to increase the rent or value and sometimes this doesn’t take a lot of effort.

When a property is under rented: You can increase the rent immediately due to the landlord charging below market rent.

Adding another bedroom: Sometimes a property may have a large room that can be sectioned into two smaller rooms. Creating an extra bedroom means more rent.

Large section: Large sections can be subdivided and sold off, a new property can be built, or an existing home transported to the site to create another separate rental income.

This is just a snapshot of the strategies we use when analysing deals that are sent exclusively to our client base.
